“Metals” made its debut on October 4, 2011 riddled with
rhythmic undertones, it seems as though a woman warrior is wandering a desolate, apocalyptic world
and is struggling for life. Many songs resemble her empty heart determined to
continue on and push towards the light. Fiest’s melodies are unconventional but
agreeable and take you on an odyssey into uncertainty.
“Caught in a Long Wind” showcases the artist’s angelic voice
as it lightly tip toes up and down the staccato instrumental base. This song expounds on
a person who wants to unlock their world and sore towards the fear of the
unknown. Concentrated on capturing happiness yet prepared to understand the current
messages, they are hoping to merely keep afloat.
“Anti-Pioneer’s” blue colored anguish from Feist’s lips is
present as the song saunters through your ears. The insatiable “How Come You Never Go There” describes a less than perfect home and a relationship on its way out. Simply put “We waste time on blame, I wreak revenge |Wasted energy and
rejections | We're living proof, we gotta let go | And stop looking through the
halo | We carry on as if our time is through |You carry on as if I don't love
you.”
This album does not carry the vivacious similarities of “1234”
on her prior album “The Reminder”, Feist experiments more with her darker, bluesy
side. She is currently on tour promoting her new project; please visit her
