WYEP’s Studio Session - Glen Tilbrook of Squeeze

This afternoon I put on my volunteer hat to assist WYEP with their Studio Session featuring Glen Tilbrook of Squeeze. I had the pleasure of checking in members that support WYEP and was able to sit in on this wonderful experience.  The in Studio Session is a live on air performance from a musical guest performing in Pittsburgh accompanied by a WYEP Mix Host conducting an interview between songs.  Today’s interview was given by the Midday Mix Host, Mike Sauter and was nothing less than entertaining, enlightening and splashed with a little comedy.

Squeeze is a British band spanning 4 decades of music.  Their most recognizable song is “Tempted”, released in 1981. Currently Squeeze is working on new music with recording sessions scheduled this spring and fall.  There is no definite timeline for release, but Squeeze fans will be in for a delight.

Tilbrook took the small stage at WYEP studios equipped with a cherry red acoustic guitar and began his set.  He completed the session with “Tempted” as the audience cheered with the strum of his last note. Sauter and Tilbrook discussed topics such as his first encounter with fellow band member, Chris Difford. The chemistry between these two founding band members brought two halves together in the song writing process with Difford’s ability the pen the lyrics and Tilbrook’s ability to create the melodies. He even touched on a past tour collaboration with Aimee Mann, where the band is today in relation to creating their new record and their recent performances at Coachella this past month.

If you missed this quaint performance you still have a chance to see Squeeze perform tonight at the intimate Carnegie Library Music Hall in Homestead with The English Beat at 7:30. Get your tickets HERE and check out the behind the scene photos from today's Studio Session at WYEP’s flickr site.
