Have you
ever wanted to be fan of Bjork? Her world seems so interesting, but
indigestible for a person that cannot decipher the meanings behind her
complicated lyrics. Well you may need to start with a good pair of training
wheels to understand her wonderful snarfness.
If this
is the case, I suggest getting on your tricycle and taking Ellie Goulding for a
spin around the universe. With vocals as wavery as Bjork, Ellie Goulding has
a much simpler lyrical design but encompasses all the fairy magic of Bjork's
celestial environment.
Her first
solo album, Lights, debuted at number
one on the U.K. Album Charts in 2010 and was reborn in early 2011 when it came
across the pond to the U.S. This electronica and dance blended album is evenly
backed by simple beats and floating melodies. The record starts strong and
briefly dips into a ballad movement but progresses back to a dance groove as
each song spins off the disc and into your ears.
Goulding developed
an acoustic meets rhythmic sound in her tracks “Guns and Horses” and “Your
Biggest Mistake” while others dive into a sweet subtle electronica groove with
“Starry Eyed” and “Animal”.

live performance of “Lights” below.
But Goulding does not stop at dance driven arrangements; she
is even impressive within the realm of her acoustic sets. Her
music is diverse and has the ability to take different shapes depending on the
environment in which she performs.
Ellie is a good substitute for Bjork. Love it, thanks!
